DRUMMOND - The Drummond Rodeo Grounds got a makeover Friday night in preparation for the 78th Annual Drummond Kiwanis PRCA Rodeo July 7. The American Legion Gold Star Post 125 and the Kiwanis Club of Drummond, Montana installed a set of new chutes at the north end of the arena. These chutes are used for roping and steer wrestling events during the rodeo. The 78th annual event has a full slate of activity scheduled for July 7. DRUMMOND – It was another good turnout for the annual Father’s Day Fishing Tournament Saturday. The event was held at Conat’s Pond in Eastern Drummond. Hasten Burner had the most fish of the day with six, winning the Age 0-4 division. Kelsey Greany (Age 5-9) and Grace Anderson (Age 10-14) each snagged three fish on the day and won their respective divisions. The division winners each received a fishing pole for their efforts. BEARMOUTH – Local volunteers for the Alsheimer’s Longest Day awareness program will be staffing a refreshment station at the Bearmouth Rest Area on the eastbound I-90. The station will be at the rest area from 8 a.m. to approximately 4 p.m., serving those making the stop free cookies and refreshments. Donations will be accepted. #Alzheimers
GRANITE COUNTY – The National Weather Service is projecting some odd weather for the first official day of summer in Granite County. Temperatures will be dropping well below seasonal averages for the next week or so, with precipitation included in the forecast. But that moisture may take the form of snow in the southern part of the county with Philipsburg and Georgetown Lake likely seeing some snow overnight and into Friday. Partners convened at the inaugural Montana Wildlife and Transportation Summit held in December 2018 at Carroll College in Helena to chart a course for working together to improve safe passage for wildlife and travelers on Montana roads.
