Granite rallies to beat Drummond in volleyball opener
PHILIPSBURG – Tuesday’s opening match of the District 13 volleyball season may very well have featured two of the top teams in Drummond and Granite. And while the Lady Prospectors walked away with a 3-1 win, the scores indicated a closer match than what some may have anticipated. With the Lady Trojans being out gunned in size and experience, they didn’t show any signs of intimidation as they opened with a 26-24 win in Game 1. Granite played with the visitors until the end, fa

But with four starting seniors now gone, Paige Fickler takes the reins to keep the program headed in the right direction. Fickler, a Drummond grad, takes over for Brooks Phillips and is looking to build a culture where the focus is around one mantra. “Every day, in every way, we get a little better,” recited the ne

Lady Prospectors taking new coach, focus into 2021 season
“I worked with all of them in off season,” Ward said. “I made sure to have them tell me if I set it wrong and where to put it. I worked with all of them to make sure I’m setting to their best spot.” PHILIPSBURG – A new coach and a new attitude are what the Granite Lady Prospectors are hoping will propel them into and through the 2021 volleyball season. It also doesn’t hurt that they return five seniors and four girls that are all power players at the net. Kaley Hansen has tak

Change in the wind Friday night as Flint Creek opens season against Darby in Philipsburg.
GRANITE COUNTY – New season. New Staff. New players. It’s all part and parcel of high school sports. But there may be no program under more scrutiny than the Flint Creek Titans at the start of the 2021 8-Man Football Season. 2020 saw the Titans claim their third championship in four years, making them the most successful program under the Big Sky since their creation in 2014. And they did it with legendary coaches like Jim Oberweiser, Mike Cutler and JC Holland, the latter tw
