Sheriff's Report: Rock Creek claims victim of rafting accident


ROCK CREEK - The Granite County Sheriff's Office has reported a drowning on Rock Creek this afternoon.

From the Sheriff's press release...

At 1:47 p.m. Granite County dispatch received a report of a capsized raft near the Hog Back on Rock Creek, west of Philipsburg. A 72 year old Minnesota man (wearing a life jacket) was thrown from the raft and drowned at the scene despite the resuscitative efforts of bystanders.

The investigation into the matter is ongoing. The name of the individual is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Water on Rock Creek is exceptionally high. Anyone floating is encouraged to wear life jackets and use extreme caution.
