Local ranch offers farm-fresh veggies straight to your table

CLINTON – The fresher they are the better they are.

The Moon River Ranch, located near Clinton, was a family-owned ranch established in 1968. It’s original purpose was Arabian horses, of which more than 60 still reside there.

Nowadays the Campbell Family is focusing on agriculture and has started a business providing farm-fresh vegetables through the I-90 corridor. Vegetables are an important part of everyone’s diet, providing valuable nutrients, vitamins and roughage.

Moon River Ranch offers its produce through the CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) Share program, where patrons pay for their vegetables up front and the receive weekly deliveries for 18-20 weeks. This makes the purchase inflation free, locking in the price regardless of what happens throughout the summer.

Derek Campbell, Co-Owner of Moon River Ranch with his wife Kelly and mother Lisa, noted that a number of programs were available to help cover the cost of the produce.

“We also want to make sure that anyone who wants our produce can get it, regardless of income,” said Campbell. “We can offer Double SNAP incentives for CSA shares, or what amount to half-price veggies. We are in the process of setting up to accept WIC and also Senior Farmer Market Nutrition Program coupons.

“Additionally, we have generous members who have donated money for us to help out families in need.”
