Lady Trojans beat Lynx to open three-game home stand

DRUMMOND – With identical scores of 25-14 in each of the three sets, the Drummond Lady Trojans swept visiting Lincoln Monday night at home.

“It could have been better,” said DHS Head Coach Paige Fickler of her team’s game against the Lynx, “but it was our fourth game in five days. I’m just happy with the win.

“Tomorrow (against Granite) we’ll have to play better in order to stay in the game.”

Tuesday Drummond will play its fifth game in six days against county rival Granite. In their previous meeting this season on August 31, the Lady Prospectors beat the Lady Trojans in Philipsburg in four sets, 24-26, 25-16, 25-20, 25-18.

Junior Jesse Struna was all over the stat book in the victory with team bests in assists (8) and aces (7)while also chipping in two digs and a pair of kills.

Holly Hauptman led the attack at the net with seven kills and a trio of blocks. Delaney Wagner and Hadley Spencer were right behind her with four kills each. Spencer also had six service aces. Sophomore Bailey Parke led in digs with nine.

“I think they (the team) are doing well,” observed Fickler when asked about her team’s back log of games over the final two weeks of the regular season. “In Charlo we played four games against a team that will likely win their district. Charlo is a really good ball club.”

After Tuesday’s match Drummond will host Darby Thursday for their Senior Night activities. They will then close out the regular season with a match on the road in Deer Lodge against Powell County.
