District 13 brackets set to start play Tuesday
GRANITE COUNTY – Play in the District 13 regular season has come to a close and now move to the postseason beginning Tuesday.
As was the case with volleyball, the district voted to go away from the single-site tournament format of years past due to the pandemic. Thus, the teams will play on a single elimination playoff with the higher seeded team hosting the game.
In the Boys Bracket, Valley Christian finished atop the standings with a perfect 12-0. Seeley Swan finished at 10-0 in the Girls Bracket and as such both teams will get a first round bye.
Granite’s Boys and Girls teams each finished second, earning them a home game Tuesday against the seventh seeded team. That team will be the Lincoln Lynx, the same team that the locals finished the season against Saturday.
Game times are set for the Boys at 4 p.m. followed by the girls at 5:30 p.m. Athletic Director JB Chandler confirmed that, as per school policy, those in attendance are required to wear masks and social distance.
Likewise, Drummond had both of its teams finish in third and will also get a home game Tuesday but against differing opponents. The Boys will host Victor while the Girls will face Darby.
Because of the differing opponents, the gym must be deep cleaned between games. The Girls will play at 4 p.m. with fans having to leave as soon as possible after the final buzzer. Once the deep cleaning is completed, fans will be allowed back in at 6:30 p.m. for a 7 p.m. tip off for the Boys game. Fans will have to purchase separate tickets for each game in Drummond.
All four of Tuesday’s game will be broadcast on the NFHS Network, with the Trojans and Lady Trojan also being simulcast on Facebook in an audio-only format.
If the locals survive their openers, as they are projected to do, they would face off against each other Thursday in Philipsburg.
