Solid passing, good free throw shooting and some tough defense added up to a big win over Class B Powell County for the Trojans.

Trey Phillips had his best outing since the Tip-Off Tournament, scoring 15 points and collecting 10 rebounds in the paint for Drummond. His scoring was the result of some pinpoint interior passing from his teammates.

“We have really focused on that the last week, 10 days,” said DHS Head Coach Levi Parsons. “We have really crunched down on trying to move the ball a little bit quicker, popping it and finding the guys on the cuts and they were good to see it today.”

Phillips posted 10 points in the first half as he and the Trojans posted a 30-19 lead they would never relinquish. Drummond worked the lead to as big as 20 (41-21) with 3:09 to play in the third period before the Wardens rallied to close it to 46-36 two minutes into the fourth.

Balanced scoring was a key factor for the locals with nine of their 10 players scoring. Following Phillips were Sam Bryant with 10, Chase Goldade with nine and Caleb Parke with eight. Goldade and Colt Parsons had seven assists each.

The Trojans have two games remaining on their schedule with a game at Lincoln Friday and at home Saturday against Darby. The latter game should determine who will get the district’s No. 1 seed and a first-round bye in the tournament that starts next week in Frenchtown.
