Trojan teams scuttle visiting Pirates

DRUMMOND – For the Victor Pirates, they were in the right place at the wrong time.

With both Drummond basketball teams having just learned important lessons in being focused on Thursday and Friday, the Pirates bore the brunt of two Trojan teams that were ready to get down to business.

It was no more evident than in the Lady Trojans 63-3 blowout of Victor.

Logan Wilson’s Drummond squad was devastating on defense, not only slowing the Lady Pirate offense but preventing them from even getting over midcourt for most of their of their first-quarter possessions. In fact, the Lady Trojans blanked their guests until 6:23 of the final stanza before Victor’s Nicole Bugli hit a jumper. She later added a free throw and finished with all three of her team’s points.

Meanwhile, eight of the 10 rostered varsity players for the Lady Trojans found a way into the scorebook. But it was freshman Remington Cline that led the way, scoring 23 first-half points on her way to a career high 30 point night. She hit a trio of three-pointers and grabbed seven rebounds to boot.

Kimber Parsons also got into double figures with 10 points, six assists and seven steals.

Drummond will take a few days off before hosting back to back games Friday and Saturday against Seeley and Powell County.
