Red Flag Warning issued for Friday in Granite County, Western Montana


The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Red Flag Warning for Granite County for Friday afternoon and evening. The warning is in effect from Noon to 9 p.m.


Thunderstorm activity in the area, combined with windy conditions and higher temperatures, could lead to potential lightning strikes that could start a fire, said the NWS Friday morning..


If you see such a strike, make sure that it is a blaze before calling 9-1-1. Have exact coordinates, location information or a description of the area where the fire is along with common landmarks to help the initial attack teams get to the fire as quickly as possible.


The warning was issued on the National Weather Service website for the all of Granite County and the majority of Western Montana.


The Red Flag Warning is in effect from Noon to 9 p.m. on August 2, 2019.
