Local VB teams split matches ahead of Tuesday night’s renewal of rivalry
LIMA – The Drummond Lady Trojans earned a straight set win over the Bears in Lima Saturday, winning 25-16, 25-11, 25-13. The win advances the locals to 3-1 on the year.
“We started off slow and made some mental errors,” said Drummond Head Coach Shona Bradshaw, “but then we got it together and settled down and played.”
Hannah Bradshaw lead a solid Drummond attack at the net, collecting nine kills while Gracie Weaver added six and Rylee Hilmo five.
Hilmo also had the Lady Trojans only block and contributed eight assists. Senior Sara Kielley led in the latter category with 15 and was tops in service aces with Hailey Swarengen at six apiece.
Ennis def. Granite, 3-0
ENNIS – Defending state champion Ennis was more than the Lady Prospectors could handle Saturday, beating Granite 25-13, 25-14, 25-20.
Maddie Tallon led the locals with three of the team’s nine kills, adding two service aces. Sierra Metesh and Emma Grange had nine defensive digs each, with Grange also chipping in six assists.
The two Granite County high schools will do battle against each other Tuesday night when they meet in a 7 p.m. match in Drummond.
