Trojans use second-quarter surge to best visiting Panthers
DRUMMOND – Once the Trojans got on a roll, it took them all the to the final buzzer. Drummond posted a 44-31 win over the visiting Panthers of Sheridan at home.
“They played some real tough defense again tonight,” said DHS Head Coach Levi Parsons of his team’s play. “Not the best offense still, but it will come.”
After a shaky start, the two teams were knotted at 10-10 with 2:14 to go in the first half. It was then that Trojan guard Caleb Parke sparked an 11-0 run with a steal and a basket. Just seven seconds later Drummond’s Colt Parsons drained a three for a 15-10 advantage. When the clock hit zero at halftime, the Trojans were up 21-10.
The locals continued to apply the pressure on both ends of the floor in the third, outscoring the visitors 18-6 to secure the win.
Colt Parsons led Drummond with 15 points while Caleb Parke added 12.
The Trojan will be at home Friday to face the Blackhawks of Seeley Swan. That game will be broadcast on the NFHS Network.
