Maud S. Canyon to Be Sprayed for Noxious Weeds
BUTTE — For those who enjoy hiking or biking in the Maud S Canyon, you may have
noticed a high density of spotted knapweed, thistles and toadflax throughout the area. To combat these invasive plants the East Ridge Foundation, Full Armor Weed Control, AmeriCorps St. Louis, the City-County of Butte-Silver Bow, and the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest will be working cooperatively to treat the weeds on Monday, July 1.
Approximately 80 acres will be treated with all appropriate weather conditions, label rates and regulations followed. Ground treatment by spray crews using backpacks may be seen throughout the day along the trail and in open areas near the top of the loop trail. Additional spray activities may occur until late September. For more information, contact the Butte Ranger District at (406) 494-2147.
