Granite teams roll over Lincoln, advance to semis against Drummond

PHILIPSBURG – The Granite Boys and Girls basketball teams posted a pair of easy wins over Lincoln Tuesday in the first round of the District 13 playoffs. They both advance to the semifinals to face their Drummond counterparts.



Granite 63, Lincoln 24

The No. 2 seeded Prospectors took it to the visiting Lynx early, outscoring them 33-7 in the first quarter on their way to a 39-point win.

GHS Head Coach Dustin Keltner noted that his starters only played midway into the second period before he let his reserve players take the reins.

Kade Cutler led all scorers in the game with 18 for the Prospectors with Preston Metesh adding 13 and Andrew Tallon 12.

Granite moves into the district semifinals for the eighth straight year under Keltner, taking on county rival Drummond in a 7:30 p.m. game Thursday. In other first round games Drummond beat Victor 52-24 and Darby slipped by Seeley Swan 56-49 in double overtime.

The Lady Prospectors blanked visiting Lincoln and held them to a single point through halftime on their way to a blowout win in District 13 playoff opener.

Reece Pitcher had 15 points to lead the locals with Asha Comings adding 13.

Granite will now face county rival Drummond for the third time this year Thursday when the two meet in a 5 p.m. game Thursday in Philipsburg. The Lady Prospectors have beaten the Lady Trojans in their two previous matchups this season.

In other first round games Drummond beat Darby 52-30 and Victor beat Valley Christian 44-38.
