Granite cagers sweep visiting Seeley Swan
PHILIPSBURG – It’s been an up and down year for the Granite basketball teams. But Saturday night was definitely a peak as they head toward the District 13C Tournament in a little over a week.

The Prospectors led most of the night, except when the Blackhawks tried to make a run late in the fourth. But Granite held off the challenge to win a big game.
Senior Andrew Tallon led all scorers in the contest with 24 points for the Prospectors with Cayhel White adding 11.
Granite will close out its District 13C schedule Tuesday when they travel to Darby to take on the Tigers. A victory there would secure third place for them and do rival Drummond a favor, giving them first place.

Girls’ Varsity Basketball
“We had unfinished business and we played our game,” said an excited Cash Laslovich, GHS Head Coach. “(We played) solid defense throughout. I am so proud of this team!”
After losing by a point in Seeley earlier this season, the Granite Lady Prospectors were determined not to fall again to the visiting Lady Blackhawks. The locals established a 10-point led in the first and added to it in the second half to earn the victory.
The win improves Granite to 8-3 in district play and in sole possession of third place heading into the tournament Feb 16 in Hamilton. The Lady Prospectors must still play fourth-place Darby Tuesday.
Granite will host Arlee Thursday for Senior Night and then finish their regular season schedule at Superior Saturday.
