TIP-OFF RDP: Trojan boys beat Plains in opener

FRENCHTOWN – The Drummond Boys Basketball Team opened the 2018-19 season with a win over the Plains Horsemen at the annual Tip-Off Tournament in Frenchtown.

The Trojans opened the game with an 11-5 run in the first quarter, led by seniors Jonah Parke with 7 and Luke Holland with four. Drummond pulled away in the middle two periods and held on for the win despite a 15-point third period by the Horsemen’s Derrick Curry. Curry finished with 25 on the night.

“Considering we have had very few practices as a whole team things went well,” said Trojan Head Coach Levi Parsons. “We pushed the ball pretty good and got some transition baskets. We showed some good signs offensively and defensively but kind of fell apart in the 4th quarter.

“Got the win but conditioning is definitely going to be a focal point for a while.”

Parke led the Trojans with 15 and Holland was close behind with 15.

Drummond opened up Saturday’s play at 9 a.m. against Two River.
