Victim in fatal car crash near Philipsburg identified

GRANITE COUNTY - The Granite County Sheriff's Department reported a fatal crash Thursday evening near Philipsburg.

The Sheriff's Department identified the victim as Victoria Rae Thompson (78) of Corvallis. Thompson died as a result of blunt force injuries in a single-vehicle crash on Upper Rock Creek road.

The accident happened at approximately 4:55 P.M. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene of a single vehicle crash on Upper Rock Creek road near Philipsburg. Thompson was thrown from the vehicle and died of her injuries at the scene. Speed appears to be a factor in the crash.

The Granite County Sheriff/Coroner’s Office and the Montana Highway Patrol are continuing to investigate.
