Trojans run out of gas, fall to White Sulphur

DRUMMOND – The Trojans got a pair of big wins Thursday and Friday, but those left little in the tank for Saturday’s matchup against the Hornets from White Sulphur Springs. Drummond fell 46-38 at home Saturday afternoon.

Trailing 25-21 at halftime, the Trojans allowed visiting White Sulphur to outscore them 13-7 in the third to put the game out of reach.

“We just did not have enough gas left in the tank to play that game,” said DHS Head Coach Levi Parsons. “We shot just 16% and couldn't move our feet on defense.”

Colt Parsons led the locals with 11 points, while Cooper Bradshaw, Caleb Parke, Sam Bryant and Trey Phillips scored five each.

Drummond must get refueled and ready to go for Friday’s rematch with county rival Granite at home. A win is imperative for the Trojans, who would need it to have a chance at tying Granite for second place in the district standings. But even with that, Drummond still have to face first place Valley before season’s end.

In the girls game, the Lady Trojans defeated the Hornets 41-20.
