Trojans fall from divisional in loss to St. Regis

FRENCHTOWN – The Drummond Trojan Boys Basketball Team drew its season to a close Friday night in a 63-49 loss to St. Regis. The defeat came in the Consolation Bracket of the Class C Western Divisional Tournament held in Frenchtown.

“I don’t know if the moment got to ‘em or what,” reflected DHS Head Coach Levi Parsons. “Maybe I didn’t have them prepared enough.”

The Trojans played the Tigers tight through the first period, trailing 15-13 when the buzzer sounded. But as the game continued to progress, it became clear that Drummond could not keep up with the torrid shooting pace of St. Regis. The Tigers shot 50.0% (20 for 40) from the field and 59.3% from the free throw line (16 for 27) to gradually increase their lead in each of the following three quarters, while Drummond managed just 36.5% from the field and 46.2% from the line.

“We were hesitant on anything long-range wise, “observed Parsons of his team’s offense at the Divisional. “We were rattled on everything offensively. We were just in a huge hurry, seemed like we were in panic mode.”

In his final game as a Trojan, senior Chase Goldade led the locals with 19 points. Junior Colt Parsons added 11.

Also playing their final game for Drummond were seniors Cooper Bradshaw, Caleb Parke, Sam Bryant and Reece Hilmo.

Looking back on his team’s season, Parsons added, “This was a great group of kids and I wouldn’t trade ‘em for anything. And We have a great group coming back. We’ll be a solid ball club next year.”
