Trojans claim second, third at John Cheek Top 8 Meet


ANACONDA – Numbers and consistency helped the Drummond Trojans claim top three finishes for their Men’s and Women’s Track & Field teams Tuesday at the annual John Cheek Top 8 Meet. The event was held at Mitchell Stadium in Anaconda.

Deana Parke, Bailey Parke Lexi Nelson and Maddie Yakos all claimed second place finishes in running events gto help propel to the Lady Trojans to a second place team finish behind Clark Fork.

Deana’s silver was in the 800 meter run in a time of 2:39.5, while cousin Bailey placed second in the 400m in 1:06.9. Yakos claimed her second in the 1,600m with a time of 6:25.9 and Nelson was second in the High Jump at 4’6”.

The Lady Prospectors had just two athletes competing in Gretchen Hill and Asha Comings. Hill placed seventh in the shot put with a toss of 27.85’. Comings placed 3rd in the Long Jump, 4th in the Triple Jump and 5th in the High Jump.

On the Men’s side, the Trojans claimed second on the backs of Sam Bryant’s trio of silver medal efforts and a win by Alec Hauptman in the Shot Put at 41’5”.

Bryant claimed second in the 1,600m and in both hurdle events. Scott Parke finished third behind Bryant in the 1,600m and got his own second place finish in the 3,200m.
