Titans blast Trojans in Troy

TROY – After Friday night’s win in Troy, the Flint Creek Titans might want to consider going into the pizza delivery game. In the time it takes Dominoes to get a pizza to your doorstep, the Titans put 40 points on the board on their way to posting a 76-0 win against the Trojans on the road.

The win advances Flint Creek to 2-0 on the year as they prepare for Homecoming next weekend against Clark Fork.

On their first possession, Titan senior quarterback Kade Cutler got the scoring underway with a 20-yard strike to junior Avery Metesh. The two repeated the combination for the PAT and it was 8-0 with just 83 seconds gone on the clock.

As Flint Creek went on defense, they wasted no time in asserting their authority there as well. The locals forced a fumble that senior Trevor Morrissey recovered, Cutler and Metesh connected again, this time for a 10-yard scoring play and PAT that gave Flint Creek a 16-0 advantage with 9:36 to play in the first quarter.

Troy found more success with their next possession, but were still unable to score. Cutler took no time in finding senior Ethan Parke for a 70-yard scoring play that increased the Titans’ advantage to 24-0.

When Flint Creek scored again with 5:07 to go on a 12-yard run by senior Preston Metesh, reserve QB Andrew Tallon had taken the reigns of the offense. Metesh added the PAT to his score and it was 32-0.

The senior Metesh grabbed a Trojan pass on defense, setting up Flint Creek’s final series of the first quarter. Tallon rushed the ball 15 yards for the score and hit Leyton Wagner with the point after pass to run the score to 40-0 and start the running clock 2:03 to go in the opening stanza.

In the second quarter Tallon added a three-yard run and a 5-yard pass to Cooper Bradshaw to made the margin 54 points. As the half ended, Head Coach Mike Cutler had his starters removing their pads and allowing his JV players finish out the game.

In the final two periods Tallon made the most of his opportunity, Tallon added a pair of scoring passes to Colt Parsons and another rushing touchdown to finish with six scores on the day.

Flint Creek will move on to play Clark Fork Friday, Sept. 18 at Drummond High School. The Mountain Cats are 2-1 on the year, having lost to Thompson Falls (Wk. 2, 42-0) and beating Victor (Wk. 1, 56-12) and Mission (Wk. 3, 74-68). Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
