Tallon, Lee tabbed as Granite Players of the Year

GRANITE COUNTY – The Granite Lady Prospectors were split between seniors and sophomores this season, so it seems only fitting that one of each would be honored come season’s end.

Lady Prospectors Senior Lucia Lee and sophomore Ella Tallon were named as the Scheels Players of the Year by the Flint Creek Courier. The corporate sponsorship honors the best players from both Drummond and Granite High Schools who contribute most to their team through statistics and great team play.

Tallon was the team’s quarterback on the court, handing out a team high 136 assists on the season. She was also tops in service aces where she logged 70, another team best.

Lee has been a force at the net the past two seasons. She was second on the squad in kills with 65 and the Granite team leader with 53 blocks. She also contributed 23 aces.

The Lady Prospectors finished 6-6 in District 13C play and will open the tournament Thursday against Victor at 10 a.m. Granite beat Victor twice during the regular season. Should they make it a repeat they will face their cross-county rival Drummond in the semifinals of the Winner’s Bracket. A loss would put them into the Consolation Bracket with play continuing Friday.

The Flint Creek Courier would like to thank Scheels for their partnership this year.
