PRCA cancels rodeos amid COVID-19 concerns


COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) has cancelled and postponed events due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus. The circuit joins an ever growing list of professional, college and high school sports that are cancelling events due to the viral outbreak.

“The health and safety of athletes, officials, fans and event hosts is a priority,” said PRCA CEO George Taylor in a statement posted to their website Thursday. “The PRCA is monitoring official information on COVID-19 from health authorities and assessing the possible impact on the ProRodeo family.”

As of Friday night, the OPRCA had cancelled seven rodeos and postponed another seven.

The annual Drummond Kiwanis PRCA Rodeo is scheduled for July 5. As of the writing of this article, it is still being planned as going forward.
