Lady Trojans broadside Pirates for third in District tourney

DRUMMOND – The Lady Trojans pitched a shutout in the first quarter, blanking the visiting Lady Pirates with an 11-0 run that put them on track to a 60-9 blowout of Victor in the Consolation Finals of the District 13C Tournament.

Unfortunately for Drummond, the Seeley Swan defeated Granite in the championship game and thus prevents the locals from challenging back into the Divisional bracket.

The Lady Trojans followed up their first quarter run with a 22-2 second, giving them a 33-2 halftime lead and never looking back.

“This is a great group of girls,” said a reflective Nate Bignell, DHS Head Coach, after the game. Regarding the effect Covid-19 had on the season, “They responded pretty well. It kind of exhausted them at times, but they didn’t get too down about it. They handled it just fine.”

Leading the way in their final game were seniors Sydney Phillips and Deana Parke with 11 points each, while Holly Hauptman added 10. In her final game Gracie Weaver scored four.
