Lady Prospectors close out regular season with sweep in Victor

VICTOR – Granite High School closed out its 2020 regular season schedule Thursday night with a straight set sweep of the Pirates in Victor 25-15, 25-16, 25-13. The Lady Prospectors would have played Lincoln in Philipsburg Friday, but had that match cancelled earlier this week.

After the win GHS Head Coach Jennifer Graham kept her remarks short and to the point. “It was good, the girls played loose yet focused.”

Amelia Hill was part of that focus group and collected a team-best nine kills on the night. Asha Comings led in aces (6) and digs (10), while Rachel Ward had 18 assists and Lucia Lee had four blocks.

Granite will now wait for the district tournament to fill out so they can begin play next week. Due to the MHSA Covid-19 provisions, the district chose to have a single elimination tournament with the higher seeded team hosting. That bracket should be announced this weekend.
