Lady Prospectors beat Darby in 2023 opener

PHILIPSBURG – The Granite Lady Prospectors caught the Tigers by the tail Tuesday, opening the new year with a 55-17 win over visiting Darby.

“We came out strong with a great tempo in the first half to secure the lead,” said GHS Head Coach Cash Laslovich. “The girls played tough tonight until the final buzzer.”

It was clear from the opening tip that the locals would be in control, using a 10-2 run in the first and a 13-6 in the second to secure a lead they would never relinquish.

Six Lady Prospectors found their way into the scorebook with four hitting double figures led by Lucia Lee’s 14 points. Lee also added 10 rebounds and four steals. Ramsey Smith added 12 points, with Rachel Ward and Gretchen Hill each chipping in 10. The latter pair also combined for 13 rebounds and 10 steals on the night.
