Senior Rachel Ward scored 25 in her regular season farewell to District 13C play, leading the Granite to a 9-3 mark and a third place finish. They will face the winner of the Lincoln-Victor game (played this Thursday) in the opening round of the District 13C Tournament Feb. 16 in Hamilton.
The Lady Prospectors took off like a shot after the game’s opening tipoff, outscoring their hosts 21-5 over the first eight minutes. They added a 24-7 run in the second to put the game well out of reach by halftime.
In addition to Ward’s big night, Granite had three more players score double figures in Ramsey Smith (10), Montannah Piar (11) and Gretchen Hill (13).
Granite will take a day off before hosting Arlee Thursday for Senior Night 2023. They will close out the regular season with a final tune-up at Superior Saturday.

It was a hard-fought battle with a comeback attempt at the end, but on a night when the shots just weren’t falling a win wasn’t in the cards for the Granite Prospectors.
Darby held a five-point edge through halftime, but a 21-10 third period created a margin too large for the Prospectors to overcome.
Andrew Tallon was the game’s top scorer with 22 for Granite, with Cavan Babbitt adding 12 and Cayhel White 10.
The Prospectors finish district play in fourth place at 6-6 and will likely face Victor in the opening round of the District 13C Tournament Feb. 16 in Hamilton.
