Granite Girls fall from Divisional with loss to Twin Bridges

DEER LODGE – A second quarter lull in passing and scoring lead to the downfall of the Granite Lady Prospectors Thursday as they fell to Twin Bridges 45-39 in the Consolation Round of the MHSA Class C Western Divisional Tournament.

Granite started in good form, playing tight defense while scoring on select plays. They held a 7-4 lead after one period. But as the Lady Falcons started finding their legs on offense, the Lady Prospectors made a series of turnovers that allowed the opposition to go on a 13-3 run and hold a 17-10 halftime lead.

The two squads played even in the third, but when Granite finally started hitting on all cylinders in the fourth, Twin Bridges paced them to the final buzzer to secure the win.

The Lady Falcons will advance to play Ennis in a Consolation Bracket semifinal, while Charlo faces Alberton-Superior in the other. In the Championship Bracket Manhattan Christian will tangle with Seeley Swan.

“We will miss our senior Amelia (Hill) next year and we thank her for her dedication during her career.“

Hill finished her final game as a Lady Prospector with 10 points while Asha Comings led Granite with 13 points.
