Drummond XC runs to 4th, 5th place finishes at State Finals

KALISPELL – A young and growing Trojan Cross Country Team claimed top finishes at the Montana High School Association State Cross Country Meet Saturday at Rebecca Farm.

“All the Drummond runners overcame adverse conditions and performed well today. Four of our seven runners medaled. The only other team that medaled more than 50% was probably Manhattan Christian (and) they won the boys and girls team titles. All of our runners finished close to their seeding going in to state except freshman Scott Parke, he moved from 27th to 14th to medal.  Our boys and girls team had great leadership all year in Juniors Samuel Bryant and Ezra Bolotsky.

“I sure had fun this year as a coach (and am) looking forward to this spring for track and next year for cross country. We return everyone and should add more runners to our roster."

Bolotsky (43rd), Bryant (10th) and Parke (14th) along with Jonathan Pfendler(41st) led the boys’ team to a fourth place finish overall.

On the girls side, Maddie Yakos had the team’s best solo finish of the day, taking ninth in the girls race. Her sister Gracie came in 12th and Elizabeth Perry placed 41st which translated to a team score that placed them fifth.
