Drummond suffers nonconference loss at Clark Fork

SUPERIOR – Try as they might, the Lady Trojans lost a tight five-set match to the Mountain Cats Saturday in Superior, 25-17, 19-25, 19-25, 25-18, 4-15.

After getting off to a quick start with a win in the opener, Drummond suffered losses in games two and three that put them on the defensive. They rallied to take game four and tie the match, but host Clark Fork claimed the fifth set and the match.

“There were some really great moments and then some where it felt like our feet were cemented to the floor,” said DHS Head Coach Brooks Phillips. “We definitely helped them out a few times by not having a great night serving.

“We never like to lose but it’s a nonconference loss so we’ll make some adjustments and move on.”

Phillips also spoke to her team’s ability to bounce back after a loss.

”The best part about this team is they will learn from this game, but they won’t let it affect their season goals.”

Seniors Deana Parke continued lead at the service line with four aces, while Hannah Bradshaw had 16 digs and Jesse Struna 18 assists. Sydney Phillips had 10 kills and six blocks to lead in those categories.

The Lady Trojans will get to stay local next week, traveling to Deer Lodge Tuesday to play Powell County and hosting Valley Christian Thursday.
