78th Annual Drummond Rodeo busts from the gate July 7


DRUMMOND – The Kiwanis Club of Drummond, Montana is set to host its annual rodeo and the weather man seems to be granting a great day to do it.

The 78th Annual Drummond Kiwanis PRCA Rodeo will be an all-day celebration of small town Americana when the day breaks July 7, 2019. It is an annual event that the local club uses to fund its many projects that benefit children and families throughout the year. This year the Kiwanis Club has teamed with the American Legion Gold Star Post 125 to host the inaugural Midsummer Night Jam. This first-ever event will feature rising country star John King and Butte native Levi Blom. For more information visit www.DrummondConcert.com

 

The day starts at 6 a.m. when the Valley Fire District Volunteer Fire Department hosts a pancake breakfast at its Drummond Station House on East Front Street. The meal is a scant $5 for pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs and juice or coffee and last until 11 a.m.

At 9 a.m. the Slack Round takes place at the rodeo grounds.

At high noon the annual Drummond Rodeo Parade takes place. This parade has seen nice upgrades from year’s passed and is great entertainment for the entire family. Make sure to get your spot early!

As soon as the parade ends, patrons will want to head out to the American Legion Rodeo Grounds for the 2nd Annual Western Art Quick Finish Art Show. There will be a collection of artists from all over Montana using various media to create incredible works of art that you can bid on after the rodeo.

If art isn’t your thing, then you can you get a great tasting lunch from one of the vendors on site. Delicious food, soda and beer will all be readily available. It’s also a great opportunity to claim your seats before the action begins.

At 2 p.m. all the action starts with the best and brightest coming in from the PRCA circuit to compete in all the traditional rodeo events you have come to expect from the Drummond Rodeo. In between events rodeo clown Donnie Landis will entertain folks with a variety of hilarious routines.

After the last ride, the artwork created before the rodeo will be put up on the auction block. This is your chance to have a one-of-a-kind piece of art in your home.


Come Saturday and stay the night!

This year the Roughstock Saloon will host a street dance and concert featuring Doc Savage. The music begins at 8 p.m. with a Jitterbug contest that has a cash prize for first place.

Before you get to the bar, check in at one of the local hotels (Wagon Wheel Motel or the Drummond Hotel) or grab a spot at the Town of Drummond Campground and Park. Spots are available for the latter on a first come, first served basis.
