Ranch at Rock Creek plays host to GCMF's Festival of Trees
PHILIPSBURG - The Granite County Medical Foundation's (GCMF) 5th Annual Festival of Trees took place Saturday night, hosted at the Ranch at Rock Creek.
The annual event raises funds for the GCMF and encourages tree trimming trees from around the area to create works of art using the them. This year that theme was "A Handcrafted Christmas."
The tree drawing the highest amount for the night was the "If You're Not Having a Smashing Christmas, It's Not Rudolph's Fault!" created by Scott & Tricia Lyons and Anna Pence. It drew the highest bid of the night at $4,100 and collected an additional $1,000 for a total of $5,100.
Coming in second was "The Stockings Were Hung" tree created by Karen Padget, Penny Hurley and Lesley Fickler with a bid total of $3,700 on two separate bids.
In all more than $32,000 was raised during the tree bidding.
Attendees were encouraged to take part in judging the trees in three categories. Their final verdict was that "A Sweet Montana Christmas" was the Most Festive, "The Nature Tree" was Most Original and "Nature's Nativity" was Most Finely Crafted.
