Lady Trojans see offense wake up in road games

It looked like six more losses in the standings, but progress was clearly evident for the Lady Trojan softball team this week in the score book.

The first of the three double headers started Monday with Drummond falling to Thompson Falls 16-4 and 12-5.

Makenzie Adler started Game 1 and earned four strikeouts while Allie Parke pitched the closer and notched seven strikeouts.

The Trojans collected 12 hits in the twin bill, seven coming the opener. Adler and Parke were joined by teammates Emille Cartmill, Katelyn Greenwood, Ahnna Goodrich , Danica Batson and Emilee Steinberg in the hit column, all with one single each. Goodrich also had two runs batted in.

In Game 2 of the hits produced five runs. Cartmill and Goodrich were joined by Kristen Piippo, Erika Pfendler and Ashley Picton with base hits.

Goodrich was involved in a base running mishap in the contest which saw her leave the game with a twisted knee. She was not in the lineup the remainder of the week.

Thursday's home games were against a very tough Florence team that blanked the locals 16-0 and 20-0.

Adler managed to strikeout one opposing player in the opener with Parke notching three in the night cap.

Adler and Piippo each managed base hits, both in Game one.

Saturday's double header against Loyola Sacred Heart saw Drummond get blanked in game one 15-0. But the Lady Trojans rallied in game two for a much closer 23-12 loss.

Adler led the way going 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Batson was 3-for-3 with, scoring twice and knocking in two runs. Piippo, Cartmill and Parke added two hits apiece with Picton, Pfendler and Steinberg each adding single hits.

On the mound it was again Adler and Parke, with the former getting four strikeouts in the opener and the latter striking out seven in game two.

Drummond is on the road for both opponents this week, playing in Deer Lodge Thursday (4 & 6 p.m.) and a single game at Libby Saturday at 1 p.m.

Coach Scott Adler was unavailable for comment.
