Santa's Big Helper gets a little help of his own

Local man Jim Oly receives a new Santa Suit so he can continue to spread cheer during the holiday season.

DRUMMOND - Citizens and businesses around Drummond, Montana gathered their resources to help one of it's own last week.

Jim Oly is a community favorite for his work and generosity in the Drummond area, helping with such projects as lighting the Drummond 'D', giving kids rides on his tractor the "Green Flash" and playing ol' Saint Nick during the holidays. But over the years the suit he has worn for the latter had become tattered and torn. In fact in some places it was held together with safety pins and duct tape.

But no more!

Oly was presented with a brand new Santa suit March 30th by Carrie McClure and Chelle Schumann who headed up a group of people who fundraised for the gift. Others making donations for the suit were Doug & Kathy Graybeal, Justin Alt, Dan Alt, Becky Kolbeck, Kerry & Dan Graybeal, Tim & Dee Allen, the Town of Drummond and the Drummond Community Chamber of Commerce.

There were also numerous donations made during the New Years Eve Part at Stockman's Bar in Hall.

Oly, who is normally armed with a handful of good jokes and one-liners, was speechless when surprised with the new suit.

But has someone who has regularly portrayed the jolly elf during the holidays, Oly is not equipped once again to bring holiday cheer to local boys and girls.
