WEATHER: Winter Storm Watch issued for Tuesday into Wednesday

GRANITE COUNTY – The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Granite County and the surrounding area.

While the storm moving into the area will drop a few inches of snow in Drummond, the NWS is predicting heavier snowfalls for the southern part of the county – specifically Philipsburg and Georgetown Lake. Snowfalls totals in those areas could be closer to a foot in total accumulation.

Those traveling could encounter difficult driving conditions, especially in the eastern part of Granite County and out towards the Butte area.

Following the storm, lows will dip down below 20 degrees for both Wednesday and Thursday nights. While Drummond will experience relative lows of 13 and 18, everywhere else in the Flint Creek Courier’s coverage area will dip below 10 Wednesday and in the low teens Thursday.

During these initial periods of cold, be sure to have all the preparations for yourself and your pets in place. Make sure your car is equipped with blankets, warm clothes and drinking water in case of an emergency. Also make sure your animals have adequate food, water and shelter.
