Prospectors stay perfect with easy road win over Lima

LIMA – The Granite Prospectors have hit their stride early, finishing the 2019 portion of their schedule with a pristine 4-0 record.

“We were hitting on all cylinders tonight,” said GHS Head Coach Dustin Keltner. “We caught fire early as Brian Ward hit 4 threes in the opening half while Kade Cutler and Daniel Brabender controlled the boards.

“Our team shared the ball and shot extremely well tonight. We knocked down nine threes and were a perfect 10-for-10 from the line. I am extremely pleased with our entire lineup tonight. We have a lot of kids who can score the basketball.”

Every Prospector in the book got into the scoring column against Lima, led by Ward’s 21 points that all came in the first half. Three more found their way into double figures, led by Bryce Parrett with 15, while Cutler and Kai O’Donnell each had 10.

Granite will get back to work after the New Year when they head to Harrison Jan. 2.

The Prospectors earned their third win of the season Wednesday night behind the solid scoring of Brian Ward with 18 points.

“We had some stretches where we played pretty well tonight, but we had too many lapses defensively,” said Head Coach Dustin Keltner. “Brian Ward shot the ball very well tonight which gave us a bit of a cushion in the first half.

“Sheridan is a much improved basketball team and I was impressed with their team discipline on both sides of the floor. We didn't play our best game, but a conference win is a conference win.”
