Prospector men run record to 6-1 on the year

ENNIS – It was a fast start and a rocky finish, but the Granite boy’s basketball team held on for a 56-48 on the road at Ennis Friday night, improving their record to 6-1 on the year.

“The kids played really well tonight,” said GHS Head Coach Dustin Keltner after the win. “We were aggressive offensively and were able to knock down 14 of our 23 free throw attempts. We controlled the boards and made good decisions with the basketball. We were very balanced as far as scoring goes. The kids shared the basketball well tonight.

“Ennis hit some shots late to narrow the margin a bit, but our kids showed maturity and made the plays when we needed to.”

After rushing out to a 44-26 lead through three periods, the Mustangs made a 22-12 run in the final eight minutes on the back of leading scorer Iran Swanson who finished with 19.

Kade Cutler lead Granite with 16 points in what was a balanced Prospector offense. Preston Metesh and Brian Ward finish just out of double figures with nine points each.

The Prospectors won’t have to travel; far next week, playing against the Copperheads in Anaconda Friday before hosting Twin Bridges Saturday.
