Mustangs run past Drummond boys, girls
DRUMMOND – Neither the boys or girls teams wound up on the winning end of the scoreboard Friday night, but Valentine’s Day was a great time for Drummond to honor its seniors from the Winter season.

In the night’s opening matchup, the Lady Trojans had the visiting Mustangs at a disadvantage until Ennis start draining three-point shots like they were layups. The visitors ended up with nine from beyond the arc – more than half of their final point total – on their way to the win.
With 3:15 to play in the second period and Drummond up by a point, 18-17, the two squads played the next 60 seconds even without either team scoring. But when the clock went into countdown mode, the Mustangs’ Landri Paladichuk hit two three pointers before the buzzer sounded to give her team a 23-18 advantage.
Halftime didn’t slow Paladichuck down, as she hit the first trio of three pointers she attempted in the second half to give her 15 points on the night and Ennis a 32-18 lead.
“They came out and made nine threes (on the night),” said DHS Head Coach Nate Bignell. “We just have to stay with our game plan.”
The Lady Trojans stayed close and tried battling back, but in the end the deficit was too much to overcome.
In looking ahead to Saturday’s season finale against Lima, Bignell noted, “We gotta figure that out and get ready with our game plans for the playoffs. The playoffs are a while new season.”
Junior Deanna Parke was the sole Drummond player to hit double figures, scoring 14 on a quartet of three-pointers and a bucket.

The Mustangs burst out of the gate early and the Trojans were never quite able to wrangle them back in Friday night.
Drummond finally found its offensive flow late in the game, outscoring the visitors 15-8.
The Trojans were led in scoring by Colt Parsons and Alec Hauptman with seven points each.
