Lady Prospectors turn up the second-half heat for weekend sweep


PHILIPSBURG – The Granite Lady Prospectors and coach Brandon Piazolla made some great halftime adjustments over the weekend, shutting down the offense of two teams to claim a pair of late-season victories.

Granite trailed 19-13 to Ennis Friday night before clamping down on the Mustangs, holding them to just five points over the final 16 minutes of play.

Reece Pitcher and Asha Comings each scored nine points in the win to lead the Lady Prospectors.

Tied 23-23 at intermission, the Granite girls turned up the defensive heat for the second straight night to secure the win over The Mountain Cats on the road.

However, this time the Lady Prospectors also used an offensive surge to pull away for the blow out win.

Pitcher was again the lead scorer for the locals with 20 points, with coming adding 12 and Rachel Ward 15.
