Lady Prospectors rally to beat Tigers in Darby

DARBY – The Granite Girls had to dig down deep Thursday night to work out a win in five games over host Darby, 25-16, 14-25, 22-25, 25-11, 15-13.

After earning a Game 1 win to start the match, the Lady Prospectors allowed the home team to gain momentum in games two and three. The latter was a three-point win that put the Tigers on the cusp of victory. But then Granite fought back, winning games four and five to escape the road with a valuable victory.

While GHS Head Coach Jennifer Graham was happy to come away with a win, she knows there’s work to be done with her Lady Prospectors.

“The girls gritted it out and got the win,” she observed. “We need to focus on our mental toughness and ability to limit our errors; making teams earn their points rather than giving them to them.”

Lucia Lee led Granite with 13 assists and tied Anna Belle Lock for digs with four. Locke also contributed a team-high none service aces. Amelia Hill led the attack at the net with 13 kills while Reece Pitcher was tops in blocks with four.

The Lady Prospectors stay on the road this weekend, traveling to Seeley Lake to play the Blackhawks. Games are Saturday with JV play starting at 4:30 before the varsity takes the floor at 6 p.m.
