GRANITE COUNTY – Saturday morning may find residents of Granite County and the surrounding area waking up to a winter wonderland.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the northern and eastern portions of Granite County. The watch was issued Wednesday and included the major destinations in the county except Philipsburg. According to the NWS, residents throughout the county could see snow accumulations from 16 to 25 inches and wind gusts up to 40 mph. Georgetown Lake was listed among some of the major areas of concern during the two-day portion of the storm.
Lows are expected to dip into the mid-20s, with Philipsburg and Helmville projected to hit the lowest at 24. With wind gusts approaching 40 mph the wind chill could reach as low as 5 degrees.
