Valley Fire christens newly acquired equipment

DRUMMOND – The Valley Fire District Volunteer Fire Department received some new arrivals of equipment during its training session Tuesday night.

Its new Type 6 attack vehicle, number 46-18, will replace one of its older Type 6 vehicles in Drummond and allow it to be relocated to the Maxville substation. The vehicle was acquired through a military surplus program and is used. The fire fighters then restocked the truck with all of the various equipment needed to make it an effective tool in fighting fires or for traffic control calls.

The department also received an updated Jaws of Life kit, also through the same military surplus program. This newer system is battery operated, requiring fewer firemen to operate.

Valley Fire’s new truck will be on display to the public July 7 during the VFD’s Pancake Breakfast (6-11 a.m. at their Drummond Fire Station) and during the Drummond Rodeo Parade later that day at noon.
