Valley Fire conducts controlled burn near Drummond

DRUMMOND - Members of the Valley Fire District volunteer fire department conducted a controlled burn Tuesday night as part of their monthly training session.

The burn was conducted on land owned by the Kiwanis Club of Drummond, helping clear overgrowth and debris so that the local club can create a walking park on the land. as well as other possible amenities. The land is located just west of the American Legion Rodeo Grounds across the Clark Fork River.

VFD members also did work on the rodeo grounds Tuesday night, washing down the bleachers and servicing the out houses.

All of the preparation there is advance of a busy summer for the local event venue, starting with the Austen Martell Mud Bog event this weekend (May 18-19). Other events hosted at the American Legion Rodeo Grounds this summer include the High School (May 25-26, two rodeos each day), the 78th Annual Drummond Kiwanis PRCA Rodeo (July 7, 2019, www.drummondrodeo.com) and the Midsummer Night Jam (July 13, 2019, www.drummondconcert.com) featuring country music artists John King and Levi Blom.
