Granite falls in Twin Bridges, resets for postseason

TWIN BRIDGES – Twin Bridges held allowed just three Lady Prospectors to get into the scoring column as they handed Granite a road loss Saturday night.

“We had a tough time shooting tonight, they just didn't fall our way,” said Lady Prospector Head Coach Brandon Piazolla after the loss. “It's a new season Monday, everyone is 0-0. We're looking forward to a good week of practice and tournament time.”

Twin got out to an early lead, but Granite played them even in the second. After the break the Falcons used a 19-5 run to put the game out of reach.

Sarah Goff led Granite with 16 points on four three-pointers. Asha Comings added 11 while Amelia Hill rounded out the scorebook with eight.

Despite the loss, Granite will play as the No. 2 seed in the District 12C tournament next week behind No. 1 Ennis. Drummond is No. 3 followed by Twin Bridges (4), Sheridan (5), Harrison-Willow Creek (6) and Lima (7).

Granite drew a tough opponent for their final game of the regular season, traveling to Twin Bridges to play the top-ranked Falcons. The night resulted in a 65-33 loss as the two teams head into the postseason.

“The kids came out and played hard and we did some good things,” said Prospector Head Coach Dustin Keltner. “We got to the rim and the foul line, but couldn't finish. Their length really bothered us tonight. (Twin Bridges) is one of the best teams in Class C and played like it tonight. We had our opportunities to keep it close, but you have to play perfect against Twin.”

Granite trailed 8-5 after the first quarter, but Twin pulled away with a 21-7 second that gave them a lead they’d never relinquish.

Twin finished the regular season as the District 12C’s No. 1 seed, with Drummond edging Granite for second based on a tie breaker. With Granite at No. 3 the rest of the field finds Ennis at No. 4, Harrison-Willow Creek No. 5, Lima No. 6 and Sheridan is No. 7.
