Lady Prospectors rally past visiting Twin Bridges

PHILIPSBURG – The Granite Lady Prospectors used a 13-3 third quarter rally to jump ahead of the visiting Falcons and earn a 45-30 win over Twin Bridges.

“All of them feel good. It’s all the same to me,” said Granite Head Coach Brandon Piazolla of beating his old team. “We just look at it as another game. It was fun.

“The beginning of the game we were playing a little tight. Shots we normally get weren’t falling just wouldn’t go. We loosened up a little bit and played with some confidence and the shots started to fall.”

When the shots started falling during the second quarter and continued into the third, the Lady Prospectors managed to gain a 31-23 lead with eight minutes to play. Twin Bridges didn’t give in, but when Asha Comings had three straight coast-to-coast lay-ins, it salted away the win for Granite.

Emma Grange led all scorers in the game for the locals with 20 points.

Granite gets a week off before getting back into action January 18 at Sheridan.

The Granite Prospectors ran into a buzz saw Friday night, losing to the visiting Flacons of Twin Bridges.

“They’re good,” observed Prospector Head Coach Dustin Keltner. “We’ve got to kind of find an identity. These kids are resilient and they’re very coachable. Every time you play somebody, you learn something about them. We’ve got to rebound better. We’re watching the ball rather than getting into bodies and we’re not going to jump with that team.

“But to take some positives out of it, the kids always have that fight in them and they never quit playing and hustling.”

The Falcons opened up a 10-point lead after one period and continued to build on it throughout the game.

Kade Cutler led Granite with 15 points while Daniel Brabender added 10.
