Three Titans, Coach named to 2019 East-West Shrine Game roster

BUTTE – Honors for the Flint Creek Titans kept rolling Christmas Day, giving three of its players and their head coach one more present.

Riley Allen and Kane Hess were selected to the 73rd annual East-West Shrine Game West roster, with Colby Manley chosen as an alternate. The game is set to be played in Butte.

Hess was the top tackler for the Titans this past season, collecting 70.5 total tackles (44 solo, 53 assists) over 13 games. He also had 12.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 quarterback sacks. For his career Hess finished with 104.5 total stops.

Allen was Hess’ fellow lineman in 2018, registering 34.5 tackles (19 solo, 31 assists). He had 9.5 tackles for loss and five QB sacks. Over his three-year career Allen has had 96 tackles, 21 for a loss and 10 sacks.

Manley was selected as an alternate for the West squad as a running back. While he played in 13 games during 2018, he saw marginal action in the final two due to a foot injury. Nonetheless, Manley had 1,183 yards and 27 touchdowns on the ground on 150 carries. For his four-year career he carried the ball 457 times for 2,900 yards and 60 TDs.

All three players had their season statistics muted somewhat due to Flint Creek beating 11 of their 13 opponents so badly that they started the mercy rule clock.

Titan Head Coach Mike Cutler was tabbed as the head coach for the West squad. In his second year at the helm of the co-op team in Granite County, he led Flint Creek to its second straight undefeated season at 13-0. When added to their 2017 campaign, the Titans have won 25 straight games.
