Flint Creek runs the clock early on Troy

TROY – Even during last year’s championship run, the Flint Creek Titans didn’t get the game clock running on an opponent until the second quarter. But then again, last year’s team never played a game that was as mismatched as this one.

Jaxon Lee took the first punt from the Troy Trojans Friday night and returned it 55 yards for a touchdown and a lead the Titans would never relinquish. Colby Manley added the two-point conversion and the locals were well on their way to a 50-6 shellacking of the host team.

In just the first seven minutes of the game the Titans had scored 38 points, activating the mercy rule running clock. Following Lee’s TD return at 11:08, Flint Creek scored again when Manley punched it in from the four. Quarterback Kade Cutler added the extra point and it was 16-0.

On their third possession, Cutler found Lee for a 49-yard scoring strike with 7:12 to go in the opening stanza. Senior Kane Hess added the two-point run and the score was 24-0.

In the next 2:14 Manley ran the ball in from 17 yards out and Prestone Metesh scored his first touchdown of the season with a 65-yard punt return for a touchdown. Cutler added conversions on a run and a pass to Senior Luke Holland to make it 38-0.

“There really isn’t a lot to talk about,” said Titans Head Coach Mike Cutler in a text message after the game. “The Junior varsity played the final three quarters.”

Flint Creek’s final two scores came in the second period on a four-yard run by Kade Cutler and an eight-yard run by Conley Wagner.

With seconds remaining in the game, Troy finally got on the board.

Flint Creek is now 2-0 on the year and will get its first real test of the season Friday when they host the Charlo Vikings at George Mungas Field on the campus of Granite High School in Philipsburg. The Vikings beat Arlee in Charlo 36-16 Friday night and are currently ranked #2 behind the Titans.

Flint Creek 38/12/0/0 – 50
