Runners take to the streets, trails of Philipsburg


PHILIPSBURG - The Flint Creek Trails Association hosted a 5K/10/Fun Run at City Park Saturday morning, giving participants a chance to compete while taking in a beautiful day. The event marked the first full day or activities at the annual Flint Creek Valley Days celebration.

Iain Scott logged the fastest time on the 5K circuit, running a 22:16.5 in the 13-18 age group. Second went to Logan Murphy at 23:01.9, while third place overall and first in the women's division went to Abigail McGee at 23:20.5.

In the 10K event it was Conner McGee who clinched first with a time of 39:43.4 in the 10-30 age division. Jeff Braun was second at 45.08.4 in the 46-61 age group and Marie Waldbillig placed third at 45:58.5, also winning the women's 10K event.

The courses started at City Park and then rose into the hills east of Philipsburg before descending down Broadway. The two courses then split, eventually reuniting at the finish line back at the park.
