Montana Rail Link continues project in downtown Drummond

DRUMMOND - Crews from Montana Rail Link continued their project this afternoon, this time focusing on the rails within Drummond's city limits.

The project is switching and replacing "jointed rails" along the main track. Jointed Rails are shorter rails that are put together to create a longer stretch.

When asked how often they have to replace the rails, one Montana Rail Link worker indicated it wasn't very often. He showed the Flint Creek Courier a section of track that was dated 1947 (pictured) and indicated that on the 'Y' that heads to the old Philipsburg route there were pieces dated to 1908.
